The ABS has released regional growth statistics for 2016. The figures show growth in the regions for the last decade and year.
The Peri Urban region grew at an average rate of 2.11% in the year to 2106 with an increase in population of almost 5,000 residents (4,841). In the decade to 2016, the region grew by 41, 476 residents.
Torquay was one of the top three fastest growing SA2 areas outside of Greater Melbourne with 700 new residents for the year.
The figures also reveal the level of births in each municipality in 2015. Baw Baw and Macedon Ranges Shires had the highest rates of births with 1.5 births per day and 1.2 respectively.
